Before You Get in the Kool-Aid…

Before You Get in the Kool-Aid…

[Less than a 2 min read]

Some of you know that I grew up being the oldest of 8 children, 7 boys and 1 girls. However, with me being the oldest, I grew up spending more time with my female cousins than with my brothers. In fact, I was 6 and 1/2 years old before I got my first brothers (twins) and it was even longer before they were old enough for me to play with.

I learned a lot during those years from my female cousins including sassy phrases like “You all in the Kool-Aid and don’t know the flavor”. That was one of my favorites! It was used when someone was butting into a conversation that they weren’t previously involved in or aware of the context of said conversation. (My cousins would be proud of that definition)

That reminds me of the work that I do today. Before I begin creating content for someone or creating a strategy for someone I get to know them, their needs, their business, the end user, their goals etc. In other words, I get into the “kool aid”. In my mind, this is the only way to make great content. The more you know about the situation at hand the better chance you have of providing a great product.

These are just my thoughts, and maybe they’re right. Or maybe they’re just the influences of Andriea, Angela, Jennifer and Kraft.
